Mariah Carey almost got a doubly blissful birthday present!
The singer — who turned 41 on Sunday and is pregnant with twins with husband Nick Cannon — made a precautionary trip to the hospital after experiencing contractions on Saturday night.
“So #dembabies really wanted 2 celebrate w/us/share the anniversary!” Mariah Tweeted early Sunday morning. “I started having contractions last night..went 2 the hospital.
“Finally they said I could come home after they got it under control but..They almost came on 3/27- happy anniversary in deed!!!” she added.
Though the pains were ruled a false alarm, Mimi said she’s more than ready for their big debut.
“We have a few more weeks 2 go but- wow!!!: ) #soreadyallready!” she Tweeted.
Meanwhile, Mariah’s hubby took to Twitter earlier this week to express his pre-baby jitters, writing, “I am probably going to faint in the delivery room! I need to man up!” on Thursday.
Adding, “Or maybe I should say WOMAN UP since they are the ones that have to be the strongest in the whole ordeal! I am in awe of my wife!”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Nick and Mariah celebrated the impending arrival of their twins with a baby shower earlier this month. Photos from the shower were featured in Life & Style magazine, showing the two proud parents-to-be posed together on a chair, surrounded by both pink and blue balloons in honor of the newborns they are expecting – a little girl and boy – due in late April, or possibly, early May.
The baby shower was held at the Conservatory Grill at the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills, and Mariah told the mag that she had a blast.
“I’d never been to a baby shower,” Mariah told Life & Style at the time. “This was my first one — it was so festive!”
Among the stars that gathered for the party were “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson, director Brett Ratner, Piers Morgan, “Sopranos” actress Lorraine Bracco and director Penny Marshall.
“Nick and I were so grateful to everyone who came to celebrate with us,” Mariah added.
Mariah and Nick first announced their pregnancy to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush back in October.
