LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

With Chris Brown’s arraignment on charges of assault and criminal threats delayed until April 6, the singer is back at work in the studio – with Rihanna, a source confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Brown and Rihanna are working on an as-yet-untitled duet with producer Polow Da Don, according to a source close to the producer.

Update, Saturday, March 14 — A rep for the producer issued a statement of denial to Access on Friday evening, claiming that the duet “was recorded long before the incident,” and that reports to the contrary were “inaccurate.”

On Tuesday, the source told Access that award-winning record producer Da Don, who has worked with Will Smith, Usher, Ciara, Fergie and the Pussycat Dolls, has been locked in a Santa Monica studio with both Brown and Rihanna working on the track.

“He will pull out the emotions out of the two of them and allow them to be themselves,” the source told Access of the Da Don sessions. “He’ll allow them to cry, to joke, to be playful. He’ll allow them to express themselves.”

According to the source, Da Don was originally just producing the song for Rihanna, but after the alleged incident on February 8, where Brown reportedly hit and bit Rihanna during an altercation, the producer thought it would be a good idea to express their story through music.

Brown was going to be in the song only through a remix, but after the fight, they brought him in to participate in the original, according to the source.

In the studio, “they were very close and personal,” the source said of the recordings, which started a few days ago.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna during the early hours of February 8, biting and hitting her before leaving the scene. Brown turned himself in and was arrested several hours later by the LAPD on charges of making criminal threats. He was released on $50,000 bail.

A week after the incident, Brown released a statement to Access Hollywood.

“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” he said in his statement. “I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person.”

Last week, a judge approved a request by Brown’s attorney to delay the R&B star’s arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court on two felony charges for an alleged incident involving Rihanna.
