LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Queen Latifah is slimming down — and expanding her career.

Her latest CD, “Persona,” hit stores yesterday, and she has been asked to be a guest judge on “American Idol” following Paula Abdul’s exit.

“I don’t know if I’ll come on the show or not, but it would be an honor,” Latifah told Access Hollywood.

While she is still considering the opportunity, should Latifah accept, she made it clear, she wouldn’t be filling Paula’s shoes.

“I don’t want to replace Paula Abdul,” Latifah said. “I feel like she is irreplaceable.”

In addition to her CD and the “Idol” opportunity, Latifah also opened up about her recent weight loss, revealing that she’s lost 20 lbs over the past year with Jenny Craig, where she is also a spokesperson.

“It’s not about losing weight or what you look like,” Latifah said. “If it’s losing it for the purposes of being more healthy, when you do lose a certain amount of weight, your body responds to it.”
