LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- On Monday’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” there was name-calling, throwing of promiscuity-related insults around, accusations of being inebriated – and even a pair of stolen crutches!
It was, perhaps, just another episode of the hit Bravo series to its fans – who include First Lady Michelle Obama – but series star Kyle Richards was left in tears after watching.
“I’m not a mean person, [neither] is my sister Kim, which is why this is so upsetting to watch,” Kyle told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live, referring to her and sister Kim’s verbal catfight with new cast member and Eddie Cibrian’s ex, Brandi Glanville.
“Looking at this episode, I actually cried,” she said of the Monday’s game night gone wrong. “This is not just who I am… Looking at that night, it did not feel like me at all… it felt like ‘Mean Girls.’”
One particular “Mean Girls”-esque moment came when Kim hid injured Brandi’s crutches, something Kyle said was “terrible, awful.”
Kim’s repeated trips to the bathroom on Monday’s episode lead Brandi to accuse her of being intoxicated, something Kyle was quick to deny to Billy and Kit. During the episode, Kyle is heard saying that her sister only had coffee to drink at the event.
“I was really upset when Brandi made those accusations to my sister because it wasn’t true. They were pretty hard accusations, especially when there were cameras there,” Kyle explained. “We were really just doing her makeup.”
When questioned about whether the series could be pushing the catty reality TV envelope too much, Kyle was quick to point out, “This is not ‘Little House on the Prairie’ people… All I can do is learn from this and move forward and hope to not let these things get so out of hand again.”
But will she return for another season or has she hung up her “Housewives” hat?
“I don’t know. This season is done for now, so I don’t have to think about it for a while,” she told Billy and Kit. “There’s always that chance.”
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs at 9 PM on Mondays on Bravo.
