LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Sandra Bullock may be a first-time mom, but the Academy Award-winning actress says she’s ready for the holidays with her nearly-1-year-old son, Louis.
“He gets nothing. Not a thing,” she jokingly told Access Hollywood at the junket for her latest movie, “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” in New York City on Sunday, when asked what presents she’ll be giving Louis. “The less you give, the less they’ll expect.
“And that way if I give him nothing, he won’t remember it and he won’t expect it next year and it’s cheaper!” she added, laughing.
Always the jokester, the stunning 47-year-old admitted she plans to spoil Louis, but revealed she has ulterior motives.
“It’s gonna be a little ridiculous,” she told Access of doling out the infant’s gifts. “I want the photo ops to be really great because he’s not going to remember it, but he’ll remember it by the photos and when he’s 16 and says, ‘I hate you — you’re a horrible mother,’ I’ll go, ‘Do you see this Christmas? Do you see that I got you that life-size lion? Shut up! Get in your room and do your homework. I was a good mother then.’
“And that’s what I’m going to use. That’s my ammunition,” she added.
While Sandra is loving life as Louis’ mom, she may be open to expanding their family.
“I don’t know,” she told Access, when asked if she’d like more children in the future. “I’m so blessed with what I have.”
On a more serious note, the star’s latest film tells the story of a young boy whose father died on September 11 in the attacks on the World Trade Center – a tragedy that hits close to home for Sandra.
“I was here on that day with my sister and brother-in-law. We were at a place and I got it because it had the view of the twin towers for my brother-in-law’s birthday, which is September 11, so, we saw the second plane hit, we saw the people, we saw it all,” she told Access, of her personal connection with the horrific event. “It was just one of those days that you saw New Yorkers being the amazing human beings that they are and everyone helping and bonding together.
“It’s so hard to talk about,” she added, tearing up. “I didn’t lose someone directly, but I was there to experience other people’s loss… It’s not just an accident [or] something that happens, it was an intended action and that’s hard to understand.”
Catch Sandra, along with Tom Hanks and Thomas Horn, in “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” when the film hits theaters on December 25 in select cities and everywhere on January 20.
