Demi Lovato may still be sequestered away in treatment, but she is reportedly working on settling legally with a woman who claims she was punched by the “Camp Rock” star.
According to Donald Karpel, who represents Alex Welch, a dancer on the Demi Lovato/Jonas Brothers tour (who, according to RadarOnline, received a black eye after the altercation with Lovato), the parties are in the middle of settlement negotiations and he told the Access Hollywood they have no comment at this time.
On Tuesday, Radar Online was first to report that a deal was being worked out between the two parties.
“Alex is seeking a settlement, an apology from Demi and a donation made to a charity of her choice,” Karpel previously told the website.
According to reports, Lovato punched Welch several weeks ago while on the Jonas Brothers tour, and the dancer herself told People it happened out of the blue.
“We were on the plane with the Jonases having this awesome time and I didn’t get a call or text from Demi or a ‘hey, you got a problem with me,’ nothing. And she walks up and punches me and literally walked away and got in her seat,’” Welch told People.
Welch also told the mag that Lovato got “in trouble” for how she acted the night before the alleged punch and tour managers asked her about her behavior. According to Welch, Lovato apparently blamed her, resulting in the punch.
“To this day, I haven’t gotten an apology. I’ve heard nothing,” the dancer said. “That’s sad if you think that person is your friend.”
A spokesperson for Lovato released a statement to Access Hollywood that the star is saddened by the situation.
“Demi feels awful about what happened,” her spokesperson, Jesse Derris said in a statement to Access. “Right now, she is 100 percent committed to her treatment.”
