LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Former Laker Rick Fox is heading to “Melrose Place.”
The ex-NBA forward is currently filming his first episode on The CW drama, a publicist for the show confirmed to Access Hollywood.
Rick, who hit the set for the first time on Thursday, is playing a nightclub boss in the revamped series.
“He plays the owner of COAL,” the “Melrose Place” rep told Access.
COAL is the hot nightclub on the series frequented by its young cast including Colin Egglesfield, who plays Auggie Kirkpatrick, the club’s chef.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rick’s role will be recurring, however a rep for the show told Access he is only in one episode so far, the eighth episode of the season.
Fox has appeared in a number of roles since leaving the NBA. He played a character called Prince Tyreese in Courteney Cox’s “Dirt,” and played ex-wife Vanessa William’s on-screen love interest in “Ugly Betty” in 2007.
“Melrose Place” premieres on The CW on September 8 at 9 PM.
