Before Carrie Ann Inaba proclaimed that Rob Kardashian was a better dancer than his sister Kim Kardashian on Monday night’s “Dancing with the Stars,” the reality TV celebrity admitted he had body image issues.
Backstage after the show, he opened up to Access Hollywood about why he chose to admit his insecurities about his figure.
“I’m very real, I tell it how it is… It’s hard to open up in front of strangers,” he told Access. “But it is good to let people know that I am shy and reserved.”
During his taped package, which aired before his jive with professional partner Cheryl Burke, Rob admitted he felt “insecure” about his “weight.”
“To be in front of a bunch of people, knowing like, Ok, I’m insecure with my weight and I say I have man-boobs jokingly, but it’s true and… With all these dancers who are in great shape, it’s just hard to be around and kind of put yourself out there like that,” he said.
But backstage, Rob suggested his feelings about his body had changed since he taped the package for ABC.
“I’m all about living a healthy lifestyle, and I’m completely comfortable with how much I weigh and what I look like, but I just want to be healthy internally and I feel that will make a difference with a lot of things in my life. So, you have more confidence you can look people in the eyes, feel better, just little things,” he told Access. “I’m great, Cheryl helps me, [she’s] got my back, so it’s all good.”
“Dancing with the Stars: The Results Show” airs at 9 PM ET/PT on ABC.
