LOS ANGELES (October 26, 2006) — So much for a Tom Cruise ? Robert Redford collaboration.
Earlier this week, Variety reported that Cruise was considering three films for his next project, with one of them being an indie film called “Lions for Lambs.”
“Lions” was described as a political drama that follows a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. Cruise would play a congressman alongside Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. Redford would also likely direct, according to Variety.
However, at an event endorsing California’s Prop 87 initiative on Wednesday, the Sundance kid rained on Variety’s parade, dispelling the rumors he was teaming up with Tom.
“Forget it. Don’t listent to the trades,” Redford told Access Hollywood, adding there “just isn’t anything to talk about.”
Among the other films Tom is reportedly considering are “The Ha-Ha,” about a Gulf War vet who’s been rendered mute by his injuries and is now charged with taking care of a 9-year-old girl after her mother goes AWOL; and Spike Lee’s “Selling Time,” about a man who sells back parts of his life for a chance to relive and change the worst day of his life.
