ST. LOUIS, Missouri --

A truck driver hauling sound equipment for Bret Michael’s reality show, “Rock of Love,” was involved in accident, which left two people dead and two others seriously injured in Illinois, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

According to the Post-Dispatch, police said Dennis D. Hernandez of Lamont, Calif., fell asleep behind the wheel of the truck, which then allegedly crossed over the interstate in Southern Illinois, striking a college student’s SUV and killing the student and her passenger.

The victims were identified as Yasmin S. Jackson and Kevetta C. Davis, both 19-year-old sophomores at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Hernandez’s truck also struck a pickup truck, causing major injuries to a Florida couple, who were reportedly taken by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Police charged Hernandez, 38, with driving on a suspended license and several other traffic offenses, according to the Post-Dispatch.

He suffered only minor injuries.

Police said Hernandez was hauling sound equipment for Michaels, the former Poison frontman and “Rock of Love” reality star.

The show’s new season, “Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels,” is slated to premiere in early 2009.

On Monday, Michaels released a statement to Access Hollywood regarding the incident.

“As a father of two, I cannot even imagine what the families must be going through at this time. I will make every attempt to reach out to them to let them know that my heart and prayers are with them during their time of grief,” the rocker’s statement read.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a rep for VH1 was not immediately available for comment on the crash.
