LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Rosie O’Donnell backstage on ‘Rosie Live’Caption Rosie O’Donnell backstage on ‘Rosie Live’“Rosie Live” is unlikely to live on, Rosie O’Donnell revealed on Saturday.

“There will b no more,” she wrote on her Web site. “No ratings, bad reviews. Yet still — a thrill 4 me.”

Her Wednesday night variety show earned a mere 5 million viewers, according to Entertainment Weekly. By contrast, her former “The View” co-host Barbara Walters scored a reported 11.7 million viewers for her sit-down with President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, later that evening.

Responding to fans’ questions on her site, Rosie admitted the show had had problems.

“I was going for a rich, theater-like look,” she wrote. “But many have said it was too dark. I get it.

“It was only a pilot,” she continued. “The live part wasn’t a plus.”

But with other similar efforts on the way from Ellen DeGeneres, the Osbournes and a rumored project from pop musician John Mayer, she said her take on the variety show won’t be the last.

“Many people r gonna try a variety show,” she wrote. “One will work.”

She may find out sooner rather than later — Ellen’s show, “Ellen’s Even Bigger Really Big Show” airs on Saturday night on TBS.
