overview
Rosie O’Donnell is an extremely talented stand-up comedienne and actress who has been labeled both the self-proclaimed “Queen of Nice,” and the “Queen of Mean,” during her career. She dropped out of college to pursue her love of standup comedy and spent the next five years paying her dues. She got her first big break when she won the comedy contest on “Star Search” a total of five times in the 80’s.She was able to parlay that exposure in to a part in a television series and later a stint on VH1 as a VJ.
She’s never been content to let herself get pigeonholed in to one genre and that ambition has taken her to a successful movie career, star of her own daytime talk show, spokesperson for her own magazine, a one-year stint as co-host and moderator of daytime talk show “The View,” and point person for Gay and Lesbian rights, especially around the issue of adoption. In the year 2007, during her tumultuous “View” tenure, she was most in the news for her public feuding with co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Donald Trump.
Rumors have been swirling for sometime now that she’s seeking a new TV development deal, and almost self-reportedly took a primetime gig on MSNBC, before the deal fell through.
