Caption Russell Brand and Katy Perry, in happier times, show off a similar grey wardrobe in London, England on January 10, 2010 Russell Brand has taken the ultimate (or at least, trendiest) step toward cutting all ties with soon-to-be ex-wife Katy Perry – the actor/comedian unfollowed Katy’s Twitter account earlier this week.

While followed by 4.6 millions Twitter users, Russell’s elite “following” list is now down to just 77 people, including “Get Him to the Greek” co-star Jonah Hill, Rainn Wilson of “The Office” fame, Ellen DeGeneres and Conan O’Brien.

And Russell’s not the only celebrity engaging in Twitter politics.

Pop princess Rihanna unfollowed ex-boyfriend Chris Brown on Wednesday evening, just hours after Chris released a remix of Kanye West’s “Theraflu” (now re-titled “Way Too Cold”), in which the hip-hop star raps a less-than-flattering line about the promiscuous ways of his “old [expletive].”

Chris unfollowed the “Where Have You Been” singer shortly after Riri axed him from her Twitter list and seemed to address the situation on Thursday, Tweeting, “Assumptions! I didn’t say any names so if u took offense to it then its something you feel guilty about.”
