“Glee” showrunner Ryan Murphy refused to answer questions about his hit FOX show at the Television Critics Association media tour on Saturday (he was on hand to promote his new FX series, “American Horror Story”), but he softened his stance a bit at the premiere of “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” last night, dropping hints about the direction of the show’s upcoming third season.

“It’s exciting because we’re writing towards graduation and it’s very moving to me – that idea of moving on and being young,” Ryan told E! correspondent Kristen Dos Santos at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on Saturday. “And also we’re doing fewer songs, more story.”

While loyal Gleeks will have to face the loss of the show’s senior class this season, Ryan suggested the characters’ love lives will be bring the fans joy, as they won’t be as rife with turmoil.

“Nobody’s breaking up this year, which is very exciting,” he said.

As for the are they/aren’t they leaving controversy, Ryan maintains that Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith were aware they’d be graduating this season — though most of the “Glee” vets told the press the news was a surprise — but he’s ready to put the past behind them and focus on the show.

“I was shocked – a little freaked out about that, I have to be honest,” he said, when asked about the recent scandal. “I felt that we try so hard with the cast to include and make them feel like they’re on top of the news, so I was a little surprised when a few of them said they didn’t know what was happening.

“But, water under the bridge,” he added.

“Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” hits theaters on Friday.
