Back now with Sam champion. And before we get to that green screen just on a serious note I guess. You talked about coming out to your father. And that it was hard. Yichlt he wasn't I guess approving of your choice he called it. Yes. Of you have to understand who people are and where they come from and how they are raised. And my dad was 6 foot 4, 2 30 pound marine Corps colonel from Kentucky and he was career marine all marine all the time. And I knew he was dispointed in me because as a kid of I was kind of a chubby kid. Didn't excel at sports and he was a man's man. I was feminine as a kid and imminently teaseable. Like I was easily teased no matter where I was and I didn't know why people didn't like me. I didn't get it. I didn't know being different was would be scary to people. So when I actually my sister I have to tell you this. My sister outed me. At Thanksgiving table. I'm sorry. I'm outing you for out I'm outing you for outing me. Right.so I get a phone call I'm in New York working and she's I just told mom and dad you were gay and everybody is on the phone. I'm what did you say? I won't have more Turkey because you are gay what? How did you do this so any way then becomes the serious conversation and my dad and again the way he was taught about these things he didn't understand it. He thought it was a choice. And so what I said to him if you think that I would choose to make my life 10 times more difficult by being different by putting a cap on where I can go in my careerwhere I can go in my career, what areas of the country I can live in. Who will accept me if you truly believe that I chose that then you are not the man I think you are and you are not smart as I think you are. It will take you time to figure it out but you will figure it out. And did he when was the moment for him. A couple years. We didn't talk for a couple years. Wasn't angry not talking. Didn't know what to say. Both are stubborn. Wasn't going to if you don't see it my way I'll not give in and same. He was diagnosed with cancer and we actually had a really, we had a great talk and he got some experimental treatment at Anderson that gave Anderson that gave him 11 years. And they were incredible 11 years because we got to know each other and like each other and understand each other. A moment where he was like I get it. Yes. I'm proud out of. Yes there was a time they were living in Texas and we were standing on the back of the house by the water and we were both leaning over the railing and I just helped him change a seat on the boat and he goes you know I'm really proud of the man that you are and that is. Oh, That is for me because because I didn't think he would see me as a man because I thought that he was dispointed in me, that was like a life changing moment. Oh, That's good stuff. Yes. That is beautiful. And I tell you what, he would be very proud of the fact that you are taking over the weather channel and the whole big show and running that thing because, you know, you put him on the map and maybe put kit on the map for a second. Do you think she she could -- No. I want to come to Atlanta on your show. She has it all. Look at this. Would you not would you not hire that to do wichblingts come only on kit show him your city. You are going to try it. You are going to try it. I don't know what to say. Help me. I'll direct from here. You tell me. I want you with me. All right I'm coming Billy you are out. I didn't tan my back. You don't have courage. Is that what I hear. Wait wait let me figure out where we are in relationship to the map. All right. So let's all right. So let's start west. Let's start. We are up her for lighting. By the way we don't really use green screen any more. This is old school. This is old school. We have walls of digital monitor. I know what's the clicker say. Sharp right. I like when you hold the clicker now let's go to. Upgrade Billy all I'm saying. That's all we go. So let's talk about the 2 systems that combine that come together by the way. Yes. So talk. But don't look at the monitor. Try to envision where it is on the screenit is on the screen right there. So you are talking about that circle. Billy is learning now. And talk about what is down there then we pull back bring your hands together. Exactly like that. So trace the lines back to the one storm this comes into the middle of the country. Is that a polar vortex because it looks like things are coming down from the north and also up from the south and that's where the problems are. This is fantastic. Look Washington is circling here and coming up from inland empire and wind. Fight back. It is kind of fun. What is happening in Oregon. Is what happening in Oregon right now. You have a wichbilityd we have a hair off. Turned this way. And the fog. People. Whoa. About what is happening right here. I notice a loft push this way. Is that a feather? Why are we in if fog right now. Is that snow? It's the weather channel. But we are doing this on the weather channel now. My gosh this is killing me. This will never come off again. This is by the way, this is never happened before. Ever has this ever happened. Hope it goes better for you than it did rate here. Sam. So good. So happy for everything. I always say good things happen to good people. Can't wait for the new show. Coming to Atlanta to be on it. Would you please. Nobody knows weather L Nobody knows weather like us. I think we have proven. That all right so America morning headquarters with Sam champion premier Monday March 17. St. Patrick's day 7:00 A.M. On the weather channel. 3 hours of it tune in. Congrats. Good to see you. Up next favorite nanny is her after these messages from
