Sandra Bullock Hinted At Adoption Months Ago

Sandra Bullock might have shocked the world on Wednesday when she announced she was adopting her three-and-half-month old son, Louis, but the Oscar-winning actress spoke candidly about the importance of adoption five months ago.

“Does [‘The Blind Side’] make you think about adoption?” Ellen DeGeneres asked Sandra during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in November – a movie that highlights how adoption can forever change a child’s life.

“I’ve always felt like just because a child didn’t come from inside your body doesn’t mean that it’s not your child. It just arrived somewhere else,” Sandra told Ellen – likely at a time when she was going through the adoption process, unbeknownst to the public.

“There are so many children that are just dying and waiting to be loved and give you love back a thousand times more than what you could ever give them and they’re everywhere,” Sandra continued. “You’d be profoundly amazed at how many children are out there and just so waiting for you to love them.”

Also in November, Leigh Anne Tuohy, who Sandra received an Oscar for playing in “The Blind Side,” spoke to Access Hollywood about the significance of opening one’s life and home to a child at the movie’s junket.

“How many people like Michael Oher [the real-life NFL star which the film is based on] are walking down the street that society has deemed valueless and all of the sudden, you come forward and with a little love and getting in the proper schools and attention and clothes on your back and food in your stomach, that you’re a contributing member of society, successful and making millions of dollars in the NFL. And it doesn’t even have to be an athlete,” Leigh Anne told Access at the time.

“We could be looking at a kid on the street that could be the next doctor or know the cure for cancer or schoolteacher of the year,” Leigh Anne continued. “They’re out there.”
