As Access Hollywood was the first television show to report on Wednesday (based on a tip from a confidential source), vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will make an appearance on this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” (“SNL” could not confirm the governor’s appearance at that time).
Larry King also confirmed the news on his show, “Larry King Live,” on Thursday evening.
“We’ve just confirmed that Sarah Palin will appear on Saturday Night Live on Saturday,” Larry said as he talked to Bill Maher, who appeared as a guest on “Larry King Live.”
Much has been made about a reported Palin appearance ever since Fey’s spot-on spoof of the Alaska governor a few weeks ago.
Shortly after Tina debuted her impersonation, Access’ Billy Bush talked with her on the Emmys red carpet about taking on the role.
“You’re an awesome Palin. Are you going to do more?” Billy asked.
“I don’t know. We’re going to take it week by week. If they have a piece, if they call me, we’ll talk about it,” she explained.
“If McCain and Palin win, you’re kind of on the hook for this for the next four years,” Billy noted.
“I can’t. No. I’m out,” Tina insisted. “Kristin Wiig – suit up!”
In a later interview with “SNL Weekend Update” anchor Seth Meyers, who is also the head writer for “SNL,” told Access they would love to have the politician, herself, make an appearance on the show.
“The door is open if she would like to come and make an appearance,” Meyers said of Palin. “We heard from her people that she really liked the first time that Tina played her. We haven’t heard from her since then.”
And sorry Tina, but Seth thinks we haven’t seen the last of her Palin impression.
“If Sarah Palin does something to get in the news, which she’s been very consistent on doing so far, I think we’ll see Tina as well,” Seth added.
