The apples didn’t fall far from the tree for actress/comedienne Molly Shannon.
The beloved “Saturday Night Live” alum says her two children — Stella, 8, and Nolan, 6, with husband Fritz Chestnut — have inherited her legendary sense of humor.
“They are very funny,” Molly told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman during a recent visit to the Los Angeles set of “Up All Night,” where she plays former producer-turned-nanny, Nancy. “My son is really physical. My daughter is super creative — makes up stories and she is very funny, yes. And so is he.”
While Molly’s kids love to laugh, there’s a certain school uniform-wearing, armpit-sniffing character that the 47-year-old mom has chosen to keep private, but revealed she’ll soon share with her children.
“I’ve never showed them [Mary Katherine Gallagher], but I have to start showing them because other kids have seen it, so they’ll come up and go, ‘Do you do ‘Superstar’?’” Molly told Laura, of her hilarious “SNL” character. “And my kids are like, ‘What are they talking about?’
“So, no, I have not shown them,” she added. “I show them very little… I just feel they are little and it’s about them… I’m very low key about it.”
Catch Molly – along with Christina Applegate and fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Maya Rudolph – on “Up All Night,” Thursdays at 9:30 PM on NBC.
