NEW YORK, NY --
Carrie Bradshaw is ready to strap on her Manolos for a sequel to the $415 million-grossing “Sex and The City” film. But, according to a source close to the production, there’s one problem – there’s currently no adventure for Mrs. Big to go on.
A source told Access Hollywood that Executive Producer Michael Patrick King is still working on coming up with a plot for the sequel.
When “SATC” wrapped up, Carrie had married her longtime love, Mr. Big, Samantha Jones had split with her model-turned-actor beau, Smith Jerrod, and turned 50, Miranda Hobbes had reunited with husband Steve Brady following his infidelity, and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt had given birth to a baby girl.
According to the source, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis (Charlotte) and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) are on board to bring the women back to life on the big screen. However, Kim Cattrall (Samantha), the source said, is still a hold out.
Kim’s hold out reportedly has to do with the actress wanting a raise, the source said.
Kim was the first star of the HBO series-turned-film to confirm the big screen sequel was in the works.
“We will do the sequel next summer,” she said on Britain’s “The Paul O’Grady Show” last November.
The same day Kim’s comments made air, Sarah Jessica released a statement to Access Hollywood cautioning fans the dream was not yet a reality.
“I’m thrilled to know Kim is excited but all the deals are not yet done. With ‘the wind on our heels,’ we hope to make it a reality,” Parker said in her statement to Access.
