NEW YORK, New York --

Lindsay is so fearful of her father that she is strongly considering taking out an order of protection against him, a source close to the actress told Access Hollywood.

The source claimed that Lindsay’s mom, Dina, and sister, Ali, had already taken out orders of protection against Michael.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, the Family Court in Nassau County, where Dina and Ali live, said they could not verify or comment on orders of protection.

Just a little less than a month ago, Lindsay told Access from the set of “Ugly Betty” that she was tired of Michael publicly commenting on her mom, sister and girlfriend Samantha Ronson.

“I want him to stop hurting and talking to the media about the people I love,” she said.

But just days ago, Michael fired off an angry e-mail to X17online, calling Ronson, “dark, hideous and a disgusting representation of humanity.”

In response, Lindsay voiced her concern about her dad’s mental state in an e-mail to the New York Post, via her rep, calling her father’s behavior “dangerous and scary.”

“My father obviously needs to be on medication to control his moods. He is out of line and his words show how much anger he has, and it’s dangerous and scary as it reminds me of how he treated my mother and I my whole childhood,” Lindsay wrote.

The “Mean Girls” star, now contemplating an order of protection, further warned in the e-mail, “He needs to be stopped.”
