LOS ANGELES, Calif.

Grammy- and Oscar-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge, a breast cancer survivor, has received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Tuesday’s ceremony in front of the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood also marked the launch of Hard Rock’s monthlong Pinktober campaign, a series of concerts and celebrity events held to raise money and breast cancer awareness.

NEW YORK, N.Y.

NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell says she has breast cancer but says it hasn’t spread and calls her prognosis “terrific.”

Mitchell made the announcement Wednesday during her MSNBC show, “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” She says the cancer was discovered during an annual screening “just a short time ago.” Counting herself among the one in eight women in the U.S. who have breast cancer, she said hers was caught in the early stage and noted she was already back at work.

‘Spider-Man’ Producer Laura Ziskin Dies At 61

LOS ANGELES, Calif.

Laura Ziskin, who produced the “Spider-Man” movie franchise among many other hits in a 35-year Hollywood career, has died. She was 61.

Ziskin, who fought a seven-year battle against breast cancer, died Sunday evening at her Santa Monica home, according to a statement from the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

Matt Damon’s father is currently battling multiple myeloma.

The actor revealed the news publicly on Wednesday when he and his father, Kent Damon, took part in a benefit for Massachusetts General Hospital.

Heidi Klum is standing up to cancer, yet again.

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) announced Thursday that Celebrity Ambassador Klum would be featured in a new public service announcement (PSA) which first appeared this week in People magazine’s World’s Most Beautiful issue. In the new PSA ad image, Klum brings her supermodel glamour to the fight against cancer, posing in a grey SU2C sweatshirt, photographed by Rankin.
