‘Superman’ Henry Cavill Gets Engaged

According to People, Henry Cavill, who has been cast in the lead role of “Superman: The Man of Steel,” is engaged to Ellen Whitaker, an athlete training to make the British showjumping team for the 2012 Olympics.

The 28-year-old British actor reportedly asked Ellen to marry him during a trip to Hollywood.

“I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him,” Ellen reportedly told the Belfast Telegraph. “I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.”

Henry reportedly asked Ellen’s father for permission to marry his daughter before popping the question.

“Superman: The Man of Steel” is slated to hit theaters in December 2012.

Henry will appear next on the big screen in “The Immortals,” opening November 11, 2011.
