Sylvester Stallone is bringing “Rambo” back to the big screen.
Stallone will direct and star in a fifth installment of the popular action franchise, Access Hollywood has learned.
In the latest chapter, tentatively titled “Rambo V,” John Rambo (Stallone) will take on human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border.
No release date has been announced, however, filming will begin in Spring 2010.
The 2008 film, “Rambo,” the fourth film in the franchise grossed over $150 million worldwide.
Stallone first brought the character to the big screen in 1982’s “First Blood,” followed by “First Blood II” in 1985 and “Rambo III” in 1988.
The star will next be seen on the big screen in the action film “The Expendables,” which follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. “The Expendables” also stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Forest Whitaker and Mickey Rourke.
