LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Ryan O’Neal’s estranged relationship with daughter Tatum O’Neal appears to have reached an almost unbelievable point.
In Vanity Fair’s September issue, Ryan admits to mistakenly hitting on his daughter, Tatum, following Farrah Fawcett’s funeral in June.
“I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me,” Ryan told the mag. “I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me—Tatum!’”
Ryan later admitted the incident was very disturbing.
“I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter,” he continued. “It’s so sick.”
Tatum agreed with her father that the interaction was unsettling, but said she wasn’t surprised that he mistook her for someone else.
“That’s our relationship in a nutshell,” Tatum said when asked about the incident. “You make of it what you will. It had been a few years since we’d seen each other, and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.”
