LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Ryan Seacrest is all smiles at the premiere of ‘Funny People’ in Hollywood on July 20, 2009 Caption Ryan Seacrest is all smiles at the premiere of ‘Funny People’ in Hollywood on July 20, 2009 Ryan Seacrest may soon be following in Oprah’s media mogul footsteps.

The “American Idol” host/reality producer/radio personality is reportedly in talks with CAA talent agency and entertainment empire AEG about launching a joint cable network, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, unlike the queen of daytime’s upcoming Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), Ryan would reportedly operate mainly as an “influential partner” for the cable network, as opposed to the face of the new channel.

The concept for the proposed venture – which still in precursory stages – is described as “music, pop culture and lifestyle oriented,” according to the trade, with Ryan having some sort of yet-to-be-determined on-screen presence.

Due to the partnership with concert promoter AEG, the network would benefit by being able to air video footage from AEG’s international concert and live venue performances from arenas including the Staples Center, L.A. Live, London’s The O2 and the new Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.

Sources reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter that Ryan’s work on E! will continue despite the new venture – he produces E!’s reality hit, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” as well as executive produces and co-anchors “E! News.”

According to Forbes, the network is tentatively titled AXS.
