“The Carrie Diaries” is in its first season on The CW, but characters that fans know and love from the Candace Bushnell books and HBO’s “Sex and The City” could be on their way as early as next season.
One example is Jeremy, the character played in “SATC” by David Duchovny, who was one of Carrie Bradshaw’s high school boyfriends.
“We’ve been talking about figuring out how to put Jeremy in because I think that would be a very fun — the guy she did lose her virginity to,” “Carrie Diaries” showrunner Amy B. Harris told AccessHollywood.com on Friday. “They met on a teen tour in the story, so I don’t know. We’ve been talking about that for her senior year, for sure.”
Currently, “The Carrie Diaries,” which airs on Monday nights at 8/7c on The CW, is getting fans used to Carrie’s high school circle, circa junior year: over-achiever Mouse, the strong, but secretly wild Maggie, Walt, who is questioning his sexuality, and her crush with baggage – Sebastian. But, the show does hope to introduce characters like Carrie’s NYC BFF Stanford Blatch – later on.
“Yes! For sure,” Amy said, when we asked about the character originated by Willie Garson. “Not this season, ‘cause my whole thing was this season had to be a season where we got comfy with the people we [have] and after that, we would kind of play out where we go to. I have ideas for how each one of these people shows up in her universe.”
Aside from Carrie’s high school existence, she’s developing a New York City circle headed up by Larissa Loughton (former “Law & Order: UK star Freema Agyeman). And, in the current season of the show, Amy said fans will get to see some historical 80’s figures come into play.
“We have a book party coming up that’s for a famous author of the time,” she said.
“And… there might be some Madonna in her universe coming soon,” Amy added. “We’re definitely playing with the real life people of Manhattan 1984-1985.”
