"The Fault in Our Stars" author John Green had readers enraptured with his heartbreaking best-selling novel and now he's being honored by mtvU at the first ever mtvU Fandom Awards with the Visionary Award.

"I am lucky enough to have been a member of some sort of fandom at every stage in my life, so receiving this award means a great deal to me," the author said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “The communities of people who unironically love a television show, or a movie, or a game, or a singer, or a book know how meaningful, supportive, and creative fandom can be. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my books and for the support the 'TFiOS' movie has received this summer."

The special honor, which will be presented to the author by Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and inaugural awards show will take place along with the MTV Fan Fest on July 24 during Comic-Con in San Diego.
