SANTA BARBARA, Calif.

At this rate, they’ll have enough awards to fill Buckingham Palace.

The stars of “The King’s Speech,” about England’s King George VI and his efforts to triumph over a serious speech impediment, traveled some 90 miles north of Los Angeles on Monday to accept the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s ensemble award. Co-star Geoffrey Rush was honored with the Montecito Award for career achievement.

“Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan” will follow a military bomb-disposal unit deployed in Afghanistan, the cable network announced on Tuesday.

Director Kathryn Bigelow has some advice for those who want to follow in her Oscar-winning footsteps.

“I’ve been making films for awhile – 30 years,” she said backstage at the Oscars after “The Hurt Locker” won six awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. “Be tenacious. Never give up on your dreams.”

Jeremy Renner earned his first Oscar nomination this year, and he’s going to share his big night with someone special – his mom.

“I’m taking my mom,” “The Hurt Locker” star, who’s nominated for Best Actor at Sunday’s Academy Awards, told Access Hollywood at The Hollywood Reporter’s inaugural “Nominees’ Night” in LA on Thursday.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.

A producer of the war story “The Hurt Locker” will not be allowed to attend the Academy Awards because of e-mails he sent urging academy members to vote for his movie. But he will receive an Oscar if his film wins best picture.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the action Tuesday against producer Nicolas Chartier, who violated Oscar rules that prohibit mailings promoting a film by disparaging another.

Film critic Roger Ebert, who lost his ability to speak after surgery for cancer, tried out a new voice on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Tuesday as he made his Oscar predictions.

Ebert has been using off-the-shelf computer voices but they didn’t sound like him.
