Matthew Schuler narrowly lost his spot on “The Voice” to James Wolpert on Tuesday night (a mere one percent of votes separated the two!), but the 20-year-old singer says he doesn’t harbor any hard feelings toward his fellow competitor.

“If I was gonna lose to anyone I’m glad it was James Wolpert. Like, I love that guy,” Matthew told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman following Tuesday’s show. “I seriously think we have become a family. You know, the six of us, the entire 48 of us who’ve been on this show, who’ve been able to make it past the blind [auditions]. It’s amazing.

“James, he can do anything with his voice, legitimately,” he continued. “The dude is so talented!”

Despite his elimination, Matthew said he’s overwhelmed by feelings of gratitude for his experience on “The Voice.”

“This show has given me so much – I am so blessed,” he said. “I couldn’t be more thankful for, you know, the response that America has given me. And this platform, this show is amazing. Everyone who works on it, they’re the ones who make it amazing — we just get up there and sing. But the machine behind this show, like the staff, the people who work on hair and makeup, the wardrobe… I wouldn’t be here without them.”

Adding, “So, I’m just blessed. I couldn’t be more thankful for everything that’s happened.”

And Matthew isn’t planning on giving up anytime soon. The aspiring artist said he plans to take “another semester off” from school to continue chasing his musical dreams.

“I’m gonna keep the ball rolling and I’m not giving up,” he said.
