NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Tina Fey isn’t getting caught up in all the praise she’s getting for her dead-on imitation of the Republican vice presidential candidate. She says anyone can do Sarah Palin’s voice.

Appearing on CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” Friday, Fey shared her formula for having spoofed the Alaska governor in recent “Saturday Night Live” sketches. She describes it as “a little bit `Fargo,”’ mixed with a little bit of Reese Witherspoon in `Election,’ and a helping of Midwestern accent cribbed from a “sweet old lady from Joliet, Illinois.” That was her friend Paula’s grandmother.

Among other ways she captures Palin’s distinctive speaking style, Fey notes dropping g’s at the end of words and loading sentences with r’s.

Spoof makes way for reality tonight on Saturday Night Live. Gov. Palin is scheduled to appear. There’s no word on whether Fey will be there too.
