TLC's Chilli & T-Boz On The Scene They Couldn't See Filmed In Biopic CrazySexyCool
“CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story,” the biopic about music group TLC premieres tonight on VH1, and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, revealed there was one scene they couldn’t be on set to see filmed.
The movie covers the trials and tribulations of the R&B group, including the death of their bandmate, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
“When we shot the funeral scene for Lisa, we didn’t go on set because we didn’t want to relive that,” Chilli told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Monday.
Chilli said if Lisa were still alive, they would still be making records together, despite Left Eye’s move into solo work.
“Yes, I think so,” Chilli said. “I think she just had — honestly we never ever had a problem with her wanting to do solo stuff. We all have our own things that we want to individually, but it doesn’t mean that the group is no more.”
Speaking about the movie, T-Boz told Billy and Kit that she believes people — especially ones who are musicians — can learn from TLC’s experiences, which are depicted in the film.
“I think the most important thing is that we learned from all of our mistakes and you grow and that’s what made us the women we are today,” T-Boz said. “You don’t like everything you go through in life, but I’m proud of who I am, she’s proud of who she is. We grew up together, we went through death, children, divorce, so outside of the music business, I think people can learn from [Chilli’s] personal situation, my personal situation, there’s everybody goin’ thru something and especially the message to the musicians — learn from what we went through.”
“CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story” premieres tonight at 9/8c on VH1.
