LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Tom Cruise might be know for playing a slew of characters on the big screen, but on Monday the actor found out what life is really like at the country’s top law school – at least for an hour.

According to Harvard’s Law Record, on Monday, the actor attended a lecture at the prestigious university from his attorney Bert Fields, who was a guest of entertainment law professor Bruce Hay.

When Tom entered the classroom he was reportedly met with “nervous giggles and huge goofy grins” from the students. He then reportedly took a seat in the back of the classroom amongst the rest of the students and listened to the lecture.

According to the paper, Tom shared his own legal experiences during the hour-long class, referring to tabloids and issues surrounding the use of his image.

Following the lecture, the actor reportedly mingled with students and fielded questions from fans.

The student newspaper even wondered if Tom was a little more devoted to the students than the professors, saying, “Cruise probably gave more time to HLS students than many professors are able to after class. Sharing advice, stories, high fives, handshakes, hugs, and even at one point an impromptu dance, he made this early autumn evening at HLS an especially entertaining one for all students lucky enough to greet him in person.”
