After watching his famous exes – Jessica Simpson and Carrie Underwood – get engaged to new athlete beaus, Tony Romo was apparently inspired to also put a ring on it with his new gal.

The Dallas Cowboys QB has popped the question to Candice Crawford, sister of “Gossip Girl” star Chace, according to KDAF-TV in Dallas, where Candice works as a sports reporter.

According to the local news station, Tony, 30, proposed while celebrating Candice’s 24th birthday at a Dallas restaurant with her family present on Thursday.

A wedding date has yet to be announced for the couple, who have been dating since September 2009.

Tony and Jessica previously dated from 2007 until their split in July 2009. Jessica is now engaged to former NFL star Eric Johnson.

Prior to his relationship with Jessica, Tony and Carrie began dating in 2006 before splitting in 2007. Carrie is now engaged to NHL player Mike Fisher.

Tony – who has not played a game with the Cowboys since October 25 due to a broken collarbone — was also previously romantically linked to “One Tree Hill” beauty Sophia Bush.

In addition to her gig as a sports reporter in Dallas, Candice is also a former pageant queen. She competed in the Miss Texas Teen USA pageants in 2003 and 2005, placing as third runner-up in both competitions. In 2008, she was crowned Miss Missouri and competed in the 2008 Miss USA pageant.

This will be the first marriage for both.
