LOS ANGELES --
LOS ANGELES (December 6, 2006) — “High School Musical” hits stores today in a special remix, two DVD format, but don?t expect the cast members to tell you anything about it.“We don?t even know,” they cried backstage at the Billboard Music Awards this past Monday. “I think it has a [section] where we teach the dancing,” Ashley Tisdale, who played Sharpay Evans, finally recalled. “It has a bunch of things ? there?s a behind the scenes when we were in Australia and London, put together.”Though they?ve been too busy on tour to keep up with their film?s release schedule, one thing they are up on is why HSM has been so successful.“It?s magic,” said Lucas Grabeel who played Ryan Evans in the flick. “It really is. We didn?t know any of this was gonna happen. We had no anticipation whatsoever and it was just the correct recipe for everything.”“And we?re lucky,” added former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Monique Coleman (”High School Musical?s” Taylor McKessie). “Part of it was we came into it being a no name. People were putting the same thing out over and over and it was time for something new especially [for] kids. “Kids really needed something positive that they could grasp,” she continued. “There?s no nudity, there?s nothing in this movie that the smallest child couldn?t watch and that an adult couldn?t dance and sing to.”There is no doubt that kids all over love HSM, but as for those adults enjoying it? Monique noted they have a few rather famous morning television fans, including Rosie O?Donnell and one perky blonde.“Kelly Ripa,” she enthused. “The other day at the parade [we were at] she was yelling and waving at us from afar and I just thought that?s so cool.”As for the follow up, the cast said, “High School Musical 2” is expected to be shot in February and released in August 2007.
