Report: David Archuleta’s Dad Banned From ‘Idol’

Backstage meddling has caught up “American Idol” favorite David Archuleta’s dad, who’s been banned from rehearsals, a person working for the TV talent contest said Friday.

Jeff Archuleta was told this week by producers that he can no longer join his 17-year-old son David as he prepares for the show, the person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The person wasn’t authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Jury selection can begin in R. Kelly’s long-delayed child pornography trial, a judge ruled Friday.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Vincent Gaughan denied a defense motion to again postpone the trial in which the Grammy-winning R&B singer is accused of having sex with a girl as young as 13 on videotape. The trial has been delayed for six years.

Chris Cornell Weighs In On 'Idol' David Cook's Version Of 'Billie Jean'

Last week David Cook emerged as a clear frontrunner on "American Idol" after performing a stripped down version of the Michael Jackson classic, "Billie Jean."

Cook’s rendition, however, wasn’t a new interpretation, but rather one former Soundgarged frontman-turned-Audioslave frontmant-turned-solo artist Chris Cornell created for his 2007 solo album, "Carry On." And although the contender covered the song faithfully, Cornell told Billboard he had no qualms with the performance.
