NEW YORK, New York --
Not everyone heading to “VH1’s Divas” show, set for broadcast on Thursday night, is female.
Joining host Paula Abdul, Jennifer Hudson, Lauren Conrad, Martina McBride, Melissa Etheridge and Kathy Griffin is one very male celeb – “True Blood” hunk Ryan Kwanten.
“I guess I slipped through the cracks somehow,” the Australian actor laughed when Access asked him how he ended up on such a female-heavy bill. “It was a request that originally came from [the show].”
The actor, 32, revealed he’s very passionate about music, and the concept of the show.
“I’m a huge fan of just music in general and plus, I’m sort of into Sheryl Crow. I’m a huge Sheryl Crow fan along with the other women that are there,” Ryan told Access. “I just love the whole idea. My mum is very much an independent woman who doesn’t mind speaking her voice and speaking up for what she believes in and I think that’s also some of the deep-rooted themes of what the show is for.”
And at the event, the actor is hoping to cross paths with the “Everyday is a Winding Road” singer.
“I hope I get a chance to meet her when it all takes place,” he said.
But note to Sheryl — don’t expect a rehearsed opening line.
“I’ll just be me and say that I’m a fan and I hope she doesn’t think I’m an idiot,” he added.
