Wardrobe Time Warp (Glam Slam)
“Let’s do the Time Warp again.” The infectious cult classic song from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” keeps going through my mind.
I am stuck in a wardrobe time warp. I’m not talking about a rut where you wear the same styles over and over, like Jennifer Aniston has been accused of with her trademark tank tops and cargo pants. (Although, I am guilty of owning and wearing many, many striped shirts.)
My wardrobe is literally stuck in October of 2012. That’s when I got pregnant and it’s like all time stopped. Or at least clothing purchases did.
Once I couldn’t fit into my regular clothes anymore, I only bought a couple of maternity items. Then, after I had the baby, I couldn’t fit into much, so still no new purchases. I’ve been rotating the same few items for months. In fact, there are a couple of shirts I’ve worn so much, they are falling apart.
Now, a year later, I am just getting back to my regular size and I’m ready to shop! Except that it’s the holidays and I need to get gifts for others instead of buying for myself. Oh well, maybe someday!
In the meantime, here are a few ways I’ve tried to spice up and work with the wardrobe I have:
1. THE LITTLE THINGS COUNT… A LOT
Scarves, hats, and jewelry have been my style saviors! The best way to transform any outfit, hands down.
2. IF THE SHOE FITS
My feet were the one area that didn’t gain weight (although they did swell up after a long day)! I bought a few pairs of shoes and that kept me happy.
3. BEAUTIFUL BAGS
Purses are another instant outfit changer-upper. I love to switch out bags to give an outfit a completely different look. Bags are especially good for taking a simple outfit from day to night.
4. I LOVE MY SUNNIES
Sunglasses are another easy way to mix things up and of course, they hide the fact that you didn’t have time to put makeup on and those dark circles under your eyes from lack of sleep.
