2006: The Best & Worst Style Trends

With 2006 quickly drawing to a close, Access Hollywood takes you on an inside look at the year’s best fashion trends. We survey the ones that topped the fashion meter as well as the ones that flopped!

Leopard Prints: Gwen Stefani rocked the leopard prints and she wasn?t the only one. From shoes to gowns, those animal spots were all over the runways and the red carpet.

Red Lips: Famed color of screen sirens like Marilyn Monroe, ruby red lipstick became the ?it? make up item of 2006.
Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera have long sported the look, which also brightened up the faces of Scarlett Johansson and singer Rihanna in 2006.
Too-Skinny: The rise in ?too skinny? celebs was one of the worst trends we saw on the red carpet. While some stars have been waifish for years, others have slimmed down considerably like Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie who went from thin to thinner.
Curves: Thankfully, 2006 helped bring curves back into fashion. “Dreamgirls” star Jennifer Hudson helped round out the year by making headlines while representing for above-a-size-2, Hollywood.
America Ferrara, star of “Ugly Betty” helped bring voluptuous back too by staying a normal size. And most recently “The Holiday?s” Kate Winslett came out swinging once again for the regular sized girls.
Black Nail Polish: Style trends didn?t stop at clothes, shoes and make up ? they extended all the way to stars? fingertips. Janet Jackson, Pink, Lindsay Lohan, Shakira and style diva Jennifer Lopez all donned brilliant black nail polish.
Skinny Jeans: 2006 will forever be remembered as the year that brought back the skinny jean! Those pencil thin dark pants were all the rage sported by everyone from Jessica Simpson to fashion icon Sienna Miller.

?Put on [some] big old stripper looking shoes and you can make a skinny jean work,? Jessica Simpon says.

Other skinny jean converts for ?06 included Charlize Theron, Paris Hilton, Stacy Keibler and Lake Bell.

No Panties! From Britney, to Paris, to Lindsay and beyond, Style expert Stacy London says the panty-free look is one trend that must not continue in 2007.

?The minute you put on a skirt and you force anybody else to see what’s underneath there, that’s not a trend we should have in this country.?

Even gentleman George Clooney has an opinion on the subject. ?Unless I am fully waxed I don’t go commando,” he said. “Also the skirt gets a little cold on me.?
