Aaron Carter On Michael Jackson & Gearing Up For ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Aaron Carter is going from singing sensation to – he hopes – “Dancing” star when he hits the ballroom next week with partner, professional Karina Smirnoff.

And when Access Hollywood visited the pair’s rehearsal, Aaron revealed he picked up some smooth moves from none other than Michael Jackson.

It was six years ago that Aaron joined his friend Michael at his 45th birthday celebration. And it was during the party Aaron had a little surprise for the birthday boy.

“I think I was like one of the only people to ever smash a cake in Michael Jackson’s face, on his birthday,” Aaron revealed. “That was pretty fun. We spent some really good times together and I would just like to think of that, you know, I’d like to just think of the good times and not get too emotional about it.”

Aaron revealed Michael helped him out in many ways.

“He gave me professional guidance,” Aaron said. “We were in the studio recording [the song] ‘What More Can I Give?’ and I asked him to teach me how to do the Moonwalk!”

Fans of “Dancing With the Stars” shouldn’t be surprised if Aaron breaks out Michael’s trademark dance on the ABC reality show’s ninth’s season, which starts on Monday September 21.

Aaron’s embracing his new “DWTS” gig as a fresh start after his arrest last year for drug possession to which he pleaded guilty.

“I’ve had my run in with trouble,” Aaron told Access. “Fortunately, you know, one slap on the hand is usually the last time for me… I learned my lesson.”

Aaron said he and his brother – Backstreet Boy Nick Carter – are both pleased to be on the right path.

“My brother and I were having a conversation about it the other day and we were talking about how we are so glad that, you know, we’re sober and we’re healthy and that we are on the right track,” he said.
