ABC Cancels ‘Charlie’s Angels’

“Charlie’s Angels” have had their wings clipped.

The reboot of the classic 1970s franchise, starring Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh, has become the latest casualty of the Fall 2011 season, with ABC pulling the plug on Friday, the network confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Despite its heavy marketing campaign and Drew Barrymore on board as an executive producer, it’s not a surprise the show was axed. Critics panned the program, and it premiered – on September 22 — to only around 8.8 million viewers.

Thursday night’s episode brought in only about 6 million viewers.

While production on the show has shut down, ABC is expected to air some of the remaining episodes already shot.

“Charlie’s Angels” joins the list of already canceled shows for the current TV season, including NBC’s “The Playboy Club” and “Free Agents,” as well as The CW’s “H8R” and CBS’ “How To Be A Gentleman.”
