Style watchers love checking out Rihanna’s trademark edgy looks and I already know what we’re going to see the fashion-forward star wearing soon. No, I don’t have some fashion crystal ball… but I do know that her stylist, along with the stylists of Madonna, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu have already requested pieces from H&M’s latest designer collaboration. This time the affordable retail giant has teamed with high-end avant-garde brand Comme Des Garcons for an exclusive, limited-edition collection, which debuts November 13th.
I was one of the first people, (along with those stylists!) to get a sneak preview of the line at the H&M private showroom on the Sunset Strip overlooking Hollywood, the perfect setting for these dramatic designs.
Both men and women are well represented and the collection includes accessories and even a unisex fragrance. Comme Des Garcons is known for it’s signature deconstruction, courtesy of designer Rei Kawakubo, and fans won’t be disappointed. I loved the $129 asymmetric women’s jacket, in black, of course.
There are also plenty of more classic, wearable options. My favorite piece – the perfect trench coat – in either navy or black for $199. This is a truly timeless piece that you will be wearing for years to come. There is also a double-breasted trench coat for men, as well as, a men’s boiled wool pea coat, that looks and feels perfectly worn in.
Prices start at $24.90 and go up to $349, with most of the items falling in the $49.90- $79.90 range. It’s a fun and funky way to score high design at a low price.
