In the Access “Week In Geek,” Lynda Carter reacts to the casting of TV’s new Wonder Woman… Is Kevin Costner in talks to play Clark Kent’s father in the Superman reboot?… And does Bill Murray blame himself for the latest delays on “Ghostbusters 3?”
LYNDA CARTER REACTS TO NEW “WONDER WOMAN” CASTING – “I know she is going to be really nervous about it, just because you would be,” Lynda Carter said of “Friday Night Lights” star Adrianne Palicki, who recently lassoed the coveted role as Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s TV reboot pilot for NBC.
“But I have a lot of confidence in David Kelley and what he’s going to come up with, “ she said in an interview with The Baltimore Sun.
Carter, who portrayed the iconic heroine on TV from 1975 –1979, has full confidence in Palicki, and refrained from offering her advice regarding taking on the role.
“Gosh, I would never offer her any advice. Nor would she probably want any. If she wants to talk to me, that would be a whole different thing,” she said. “But I would never offer, ‘Now let me tell you how to do this.’ She’s an actress and she’s a good actress and she’s beautiful, and I hope she kicks butt.”
As for being offered a possible role or cameo on the new show, Carter remained mum on any details.
“That is something that I… Even if I were, I couldn’t tell you.”
KEVIN COSTNER UP FOR A “KEY ROLE” IN “SUPERMAN” REBOOT? – Deadline reports that Kevin Costner is circling a pivitol role in the upcoming Superman film to be directed by Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”) and starring Henry Cavill (“The Tudors”) as the Man of Steel.
Latino Review followed up on the story, and according to their inside studio source, Costner will be playing Jonathan Kent. Jonathan, along with his wife Martha Kent, raised the Kryptonian infant Kal-El in Smallville, who grows up to be Superman and his Daily Planet reporter alter ego Clark.
BILL MURRAY ADDRESSES “GHOSTBUSTERS 3” DELAYS – “Yeah, I guess I’m the problem. Before I was an asset and now I’m a problem,” Murray revealed when he called into “The Howard Stern Show” on Sirius XM.
The third installment in the big screen “Ghostbusters” series has been in stop-and-go development for years, and Murray appears to be the final star needed to sign off on the latest version of the script, which he confirmed is actually in his possession.
“There’s a script somewhere over there… And I haven’t read it yet,” he said.
“Well I’ll get to it. I got to get to it. I feel badly. I got a message…[and] I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings,” he told Stern. “It’s not like the foremost thing in my mind right now. I don’t think about it. The studio gets excited about it every 10 years or so, it seems like.”
“They’d like to keep it going. I mean it’s still an amazing [franchise]… There are still kids today that watch this movie and love it.”
ROSENBAUM TALKS LEX LUTHOR’S RETURN TO “SMALLVILLE” – “I just felt like it was the right thing to do,” Michael Rosenbaum told Evansville, Indiana’s Courier Press (he’s a local from the region) regarding his highly anticipated return appearance as Lex Luthor for the “Smallville” series finale set to air on May 13 on The CW.
“I felt the fans created the show and they followed me at such a level that I couldn’t say no,” he revealed. “I’m doing it for them. I’ve got to make the fans happy. Lex is an integral part of the show.”
Rosenbaum played the arch enemy of the future Superman for seven years before leaving the show, which is now in its tenth and final season.
“Obviously there’s unfinished business between Clark and Lex that have got to get resolved,” he said.
Though this time out, the actor will not be shaving his head bald for the part and will instead go the bald cap route.
“There are other projects that I am working on that require hair,” he added. “It takes four months to grow back.”
