Adam Lambert Respects GMA’s Decision To Cancel, Cares Most About Fans

Despite getting booted from his scheduled appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Adam Lambert says he respects the network’s decision to cancel on him. The singer told Access Hollywood he was most concerned that his fans got the show they expected.

“I think ABC had to make a decision. I respect their decision. There’s probably a lot inter-politics going on that I don’t know about,” Adam told Access following his appearance on CBS’s “The Early Show” Wednesday morning.

“All that matters to me is that the fans got a show,” the headline-making singer continued. “And ‘GMA’ made the decision that they made and that’s fine.”

Adam explained that following “GMA’s” cancellation, he wanted to make sure that people who had made the trek to see him in the Big Apple got what they came for.

“Luckily, here on ‘The Early Show,’ they were able to accommodate me last minute,” Adam told Access. “And the fans that traveled here to New York to see me perform got a show today, so yeah, that’s what matters.”

During his interview on Wednesday, the singer admitted his AMA performance got “carried away,” but made no apologies for the racy number.

“I admit I did get carried away, but I don’t see anything wrong with it,” he said during his “The Early Show” appearance. “I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time with it.”

As for the children who might have been watching, Adam said parents need to monitor their viewing – not him.

“I think it’s up to the parents to discern what their child’s watching on television,” he said. “I’m not a baby sitter. I’m a performer.”
