“The Voice” sent contestants Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons packing on Tuesday – and it floored coach Adam Levine
“I’m sick to my stomach because my team was decimated today,” the Maroon 5 frontman told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman after the shocking cuts from the NBC reality singing competition.
“I don’t really care what anybody thinks. I know that those girls should have stayed. I’m sure there are millions of people that agree with me,” Adam continued. “There’s nothing that I can do about it. It was not their night and they happened to all fall into the wrong moment for them. But there’s no doubt that they’re talent is immense.”
Adam, whose team now only consists of Amber Carrington, thinks the show’s biggest possible star was axed.
“Judith Hill is by far, I would say, the most multi-talented person that’s been on the show. I don’t need America to tell me that,” he added.
Access also caught up with the booted contestants, who were still reeling from their dismissal.
“It’s definitely sad to leave for sure, but I know I’ve made friends for life. And I know that I’ve just had an insane experience and I know it’s just a taste of my dreams. You know, and the things that I want to do and accomplish and I know it’s just the beginning so I’m excited,” Sarah explained. “[Adam] is amazing. He’s an incredible coach and I hope he knows that.”
Judith was left feeling a little like Katniss Everdeen following Wednesday’s show.
“It’s like the ‘Hunger Games’. It really is. We’re like Tributes up there. They’re yelling at you. Everyone is just going crazy. And it’s just like…a really crazy experience,” she told Access. “I’m proud of the performance… I was in my element and I was glad I got to bring the funk to ‘The’ Voice.’ Doesn’t happen every day.”
Adding, “I’m excited for the future. I mean, I hope that this experience will open up a lot of doors and I learned a lot from it.”
On Wednesday, Adam explained his “I hate this country” comment, which he muttered following Tuesday’s eliminations, leading to a flood of backlash.
“I obviously love my country very much and my comments last night were made purely out of frustration. Being a part of ‘The Voice,’ I am passionately invested in my team and want to see my artists succeed,” Adam said in a statement. “Last night’s elimination of Judith and Sarah was confusing and downright emotional for me and my comments were made based on my personal dissatisfaction with the results. I am very connected to my artists and know they have long careers ahead, regardless of their outcome on the show.”
