Adam Sandler ‘Nervous’ About ‘Saturday Night Live’ 40th Anniversary Special

Adam Sandler is getting pre-show jitters one day ahead of “Saturday Night Live’s” big 40th anniversary spectacular.

Hard to blame him as a 30-yard red carpet will lead “SNL’s” cast members and hosts spanning the four decades of the show’s existence into Studio 8H. Hundreds of notable guests are expected to attend!

“I’m kinda nervous about that,” Adam admitted to Access Hollywood at the press junket for his upcoming film “The Cobbler” – in theaters March 13 – on Saturday in New York City. “That’s weird. It’s gonna be great seeing everybody, but that’s gonna be a big night.”

Adam made his “SNL” debut as a regular cast member in 1990, where he starred along with Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Chris Rock, Kevin Nealon and more. He remained on the show until 1995.

The actor told Access he’s looking forward to reminiscing with his old buddies.

“I think when we see each other there, nobody’s gonna say…anything else but, ‘This is an amazing thing to be together again.’ It’s gonna be fun to be trying to make each other laugh in the room and then the party’s gonna [be fun]. I don’t hit too many parties anymore, but [Sunday night] I plan on hitting it pretty hard with the gang,” he said. “There are gonna be people I see that I haven’t seen in 15 years or so.”

Although Adam has accomplished success in his own career, the comedian still bows down in respect for “SNL’s” original cast members, Laraine Newman in particular.

“We all love Laraine and she’s the reason we got to do the show,” he told Access. “The original cast, of course, will always be the best and the most exciting to see.”

“Saturday Night Live’s” 40th anniversary special airs on February 15 at 8 PM ET on NBC.
