AHS: Coven Drops New Promo Poster, Mekhi Phifer & Eliza Coupe Head To House Of Lies (TV Tidbits)

“American Horror Story” gets more new “Coven” art, “House of Lies” expands its guest star roster for Season 3, Starz finds its leading lady for “Outlander,” and more in AccessHollywood.com’s roundup of TV news.

“American Horror Story: Coven”: If the posters are anything to go by, the next season of “AHS” is going to be prickly. FX dropped two new posters for the series, which returns to the network on October 9 at 10 PM, both featuring a figure covered with pins and needles. The new series, set in New Orleans, involves witches and a commanding collection of actresses joining Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson, including Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone.

“House of Lies”: The third season of Showtime’s fast-paced comedy about a management consultancy expert will have two more faces in the cast. Mekhi Phifer (from Starz’s “Torchwood” and Fox’s “Lie to Me”) will guest star as Dre, a clothing company founder who hires Marty (Don Cheadle). “Happy Endings” alum Eliza Coupe is playing Marissa, described as a, “wild-child internet company head and heir to a wealthy media family.” Production on Season 3 starts this month, and the show returns to the network on January 12 at 10 PM ET/PT.

“Outlander”: Starz has found its newest leading lady. Caitriona Balfe will take on the role of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse in 1945, who is swept back in time to 1743, and into another romance. She joins Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully from “Game of Thrones”), who plays her husband, Frank, and Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, the man she takes up with in the past. The new drama is based on Diana Gabaldon’s 1991 best seller of the same name.

“Graceland”: After Thursday night’s season finale ended with two teens discovering the missing tape implicating Agent Paul Briggs (Daniel Sunjata) in the murder of another FBI agent – Juan Badillo (Pedro Pascal) — fans can breathe a sigh of relief that the incident won’t just be a forever cliffhanger. The show was picked up by USA for a 13-episode second season earlier this week.

“Inside the Actors Studio”: Jake Gyllenhaal is the latest star to sit down with host James Lipton for “Inside the Actors Studio,” set to air on Bravo next Thursday at 8 PM ET/PT. The actor will discuss the death of his friend and “Brokeback Mountain” co-star, Heath Ledger, of whom he told Lipton, “It felt like losing a family member and still does to this day.”
