Alexa Ray Joel Reportedly Made Own 911 Call: I Want ‘To Die’

A spokesperson for the Fire Department of New York has confirmed to Access Hollywood that a female made the 911 call that sent authorities to Alexa Ray Joel’s apartment in New York City on Saturday afternoon over a reported overdose.

The female caller, believed to be Alexa Ray herself, told a 911 dispatcher she “took eight pills,” and also said she wanted “to die,” the FDNY spokesperson told Access on Monday.

Alexa Ray is now staying with her father, Billy Joel, a publicist told the Associated Press on Monday.

“Alexa is feeling much better,” a rep for the singer told Access on Monday. “She is with her family and looking forward to getting back on track.”

Alexa Ray herself also issued a statement.

“I want to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support,” her statement read.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Alexa Ray was hospitalized on Saturday afternoon after reportedly taking an overdose of pills. The New York Post reported Alexa Ray took Traumeel, a herbal alternative of ibuprofen.

“She is stable. Her doctors are assessing her needs. And that’s all we can say at this moment,” a rep for Alexa previously told Access Hollywood following her Saturday hospitalization.

According to the New York Daily News, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter was released from St. Vincent’s Hospital on Saturday evening after being rushed in at around 12:30 PM.

Previous reports quoted a police source claiming a friend of the star’s called 911.

“She said [Alexa] had taken pills and was feeling despondent,” the source told the newspaper. “She said she wasn’t feeling good about herself.”
