Alfre Woodard’s Daughter Mavis Named 2010 Miss Golden Globe

You’ll have to forgive 18-year-old Mavis Spencer if she suddenly has a “Golden” glow about her.

Mavis – the daughter of actress Alfre Woodard and writer/producer Roderick Spencer – has been selected as 2010 Miss Golden Globe, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced.

“It means a lot to me as a young person to be a part of something with such a rich history,” said Mavis. “I know how my mom feels when she brings home a statue. And to hand someone a token of their accomplishments when they’re elated will just be really cool. I have memories of my mom traipsing off to the Globes, but this year she’s with me! And we’re going to have so much fun.”

As part of her duties, Mavis will assist in the ceremony at the 67th Annual Golden Globes, January 17 on NBC. This year’s nominees will be announced on Tuesday, December 15.

Previous Miss Golden Globe honorees include Rumer Willis (daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis), Laura Dern (daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern), Joely Fisher (daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher), and Melanie Griffith (daughter of Tippi Hedren).
