Amanda Beard Causes Quite A Splash In Beijing

If U.S. swimmer Amanda Beard wanted to attract a little attention for her cause, she’s done it. She caused quite a splash in Beijing Wednesday morning when she unveiled her new naked PETA ad.

“I think it’s pretty!”, she shared with reporters outside of the athletes’ Olympic Village.

Back after winning gold in Athens, the beautiful Beard is also using her fourth Olympics to get some exposure – quite literally – for PETA.

”When you put yourself out there like that,” Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush asked Amanda, “Are you at all worried about a negative reaction?”

“There’s always a negative,” she replied. “It’s never stopped me from doing things I believe in – things that I want to do. I’m a very strong-willed woman.”

A will that helped her improvise when Chinese authorities banned Beard from her original press conference site – forcing a Plan B – a chaotic quickly-organized gathering outside the athletes’ Olympic Village.

“What happened last night at the hotel?”, Billy asked. “Do you know how the government or the police shut things down?”

“All I got was a text message, ‘Due to security reasons we can’t do this at the hotel’… And I was working a little speech out… I was getting really excited… I don’t think it’s too risky, risqué… I’ve done more!”, she laughed, referring to her 2007 spread in Playboy.

“I’ve got a great body, Billy!!!”… she told Access Hollywood’s intrepid host.
“I go to the office in a swimsuit — in very little clothing — so for me, to shed clothing isn’t really a big deal…”

But Amanda will wear a little more after her quest for another gold; she’ll be helping Access cover the games here in Beijing after she finishes her races.

“It’s gonna be awesome… I hope I do a good job,” she predicted.
