Amanda Bynes’ Friend: ‘It Is So Hard Seeing Someone So Lost’ (Access Exclusive)

Jonathan Jaxson, who identifies himself as a friend of Amanda Bynes, told Access Hollywood in an exclusive statement on Friday that he is hoping her arrest on Thursday will help put the retired actress on a better path.

Jaxson told Access on Friday he called police on Thursday about the star, who was arrested later that night and charged with reckless endangerment, after police claimed they saw the star throw a marijuana bong out of the window of her apartment on the 36th floor of a building in New York City. (In court on Friday, Bynes’ attorney said she denied “illegally throwing anything out of her window.”)

“I have tried for weeks now to get Amanda the help she so desperately needs, to little accord… until yesterday, when someone near her shared with me [the news that] she had cut her remaining hair off and was pacing up and down her hall talking to herself,’” Jaxson’s statement to Access read.

“Yesterday afternoon was a long time coming for a hopeful intervention to get this beautiful woman’s life saved. Cops were called and I wasn’t the only one involved in the ‘intervention,’” his statement continued.

Jaxson told Access he is worried about the for former Nickelodeon star.

“It is so hard seeing someone so lost and ‘gone.’ I did what anyone would do with the available access to them to help someone in need [who] they care about,” Jaxson added.

Jaxson said he is hoping others will “share their love” for the former actress.

“I am scared every day of waking to tragic news that Amanda is no longer with us. People must stop provoking her and being ‘yes’ people and stand up and share their love and support for her. That’s my main request,” his statement concluded.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Bynes was charged with reckless endangerment, as well as attempted tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of marijuana. Following Friday’s hearing in New York, a judge released her on her own recognizance and gave her a July 9 court date.
